Feedback

Sorry, due to a site security breach the feedback form is gone (at least until I can implement much better site security). In the last day and a half, I was locked out of the system, unable to post replies. Also, the auto email system was apparently used to contact at least two other league members (likely more - if you received anything from me in the past couple days via email, be aware that I didn't send it). I'm gonna leave the existing posts available for viewing below, because it helps to understand what I think happened. This all started after I engaged 'Gerry' in a testy conversation about Fargorate, so I guess that's my bad. I don't know how deep the breach went, but I'm removing all the obvious security holes for the time being. Some features will obviously be unavailable.

Just want to chime in once more. An explanation, and an apology, too. Not to Gerry, though (if that is your real name... damn the anonymity I built into this system). He could just be trolling. If anyone feels that strongly about going with the Fargo system, please talk to one of us in person. We don't hate it, we just think it's a big change from the system everyone is familiar with. I say 'we' alot, becuase this was a committee decision that we discussed in the spring. I was personally against it, mostly because I really wanted to build a cool new version of the QTime system Doug first bullt in Excel so long ago. It's a good fundamental system. Fargorate is good, too. It's just a big change for everyone. If you're interested, research it, and talk to whomever you're most comfortable talking to. In person. Our names are on the website. We're also adding Lyle for Wednesday, thanks for stepping in. Wednesday needs a rep, and a vote on the committee. I hardly know most of you, and Ryvan can only do so much. And lastly, my apology, which is to all of you, the players -- yah, it sucks that the handicaps weren't ready, but I'm manually entering stats as fast as I can. I now have several weeks to draw from, so we'll be using handicaps this week.

Hello Gerry, Thank you for you comments and concerns. Over the years players have shown question and concern that Q-Time might be using Fargo-rate and has never been done by Q-Time and as players talk to us in person over the Fargo-rate concern they the players don’t seem to want it. As for using a full season for handicapping well no league in town does this nor has Q-Time ever done it. Many long time loyal players of Q-Time, know Q-Time has always used only recent weeks of play to generate all player’s handicaps as this system has work for Q-Time for over 10 years this is not new. As for meeting and talking to players we did that last year over the season of league if you failed to bring your concerns to the your team captain, player reps, committee or the operators then I’m sorry and if you did manage to bring your concerns to Q-Time then the league decision was made in favor of the players who express in person their concerns that may or may not be inline with your thoughts. Q-Time has more teams this year then they have had in over 5 years and has half the pool teams in Saskatoon also is to be rumored the biggest cue sports league in Saskatchewan, I’d say Q-Time is doing a good job if the players say so or not otherwise Q-Time would not have over 200 active players, last year was over 250 players. As you’ve resorted to childish name calling of the committee I’ll just file this under “Those who do nothing, have the time to criticise those who do something. Also if you wish I’ll be happy to sit down with you over a coffee to have a person to person adult conversation about why or how Q-Time operates.

How wonderful. Kangaroo committee. No off season discussions/meeting with players? Perhaps the committee should have held discussions and heard some voices of sober second thought. We all appreciate the effort put to a league 4 nights a week. Have a great season.

Sorry, Gerry, no fargorate handicapping for QTime this year. Our committee of five voted against it this spring, and we will discuss it again next spring, but the rules for the year have been set. You don't change the fundamental rules of a league once it is running. Everybody knows that. Anything else is bogus.

Gerry said, on Sep 21st, 2018:

You need to play once thru all teams to get a meaningful handicap. Everybody knows that. Anything else is bogus. Use fargorate.com

HANDICAPS: Thanks for the comment, Gerry, but I don't think you understand the reason for this. We used to pay Leaguesys to keep all our stats. Leaguesys is no longer available for use, so we have to do everything ourselves or adopt the Fargo system being pushed by the BCA. We decided to make our own, because we like this way the league already works. I pulled all the available data off the Leaguesys website, but that does not include individual game scores, which is what the handicap is based on, so we started with zeroes across the board. We'll start using them next week, and after 8 weeks, we'll have the full running average figures. Sure, there were other options, but this involved the least additional work for me, and I've already put in well over 100 hours of unpaid labour in the last month. Anything involving additional work was not very appealing to me. Hope that explains my reasoning somewhat...

As of Week 2, handicaps are still not being applied (1 week of play is clearly not enough to generate accurate numbers). Until further notice, continue to play straight up (without handicap), as you did in week 1. Thanks for your patience... Considering the vast majority of players have a very usable handicap, why not use them ? It will be far better to do that than start from nowhere. Honestly, doing it any other way completely distorts what you are trying to achieve. Starting from square one is bizarre.

SCHEDULES: Click the League Night you're interested in, scroll down to Upcoming Matches, it'll show you who and where you play this week. Full schedules will be available sometime between now and 2019 (likely by Saturday, actually, but I still have to code that section, so no promises)...
